Dry Needle Neural Therapy

(Connective Tissue Release, Myo-facial Release)

Dry Needling Neural Therapy is a technique that provides pain relief and aids in the return of function and mobility.  It is performed by medically trained or licensed health care professionals such as nurses, doctors, and phlebotomists.  These professionals are instructed initially with their formal education and have added additional training in order to perform Dry Needling Neural Therapy. It originated with Dr. Huneke in the 1930’s during his consolidation of knowledge on the Autonomic Nervous System.  This therapy works on the autonomic ganglia (nerve groups controlling internal organs), peripheral nerves (nerves controlling the extremities, such as arms and legs), scars, glands, acupressure points, trigger points, and segmental points (nerve points controlling segments of the body).

Neural Therapy applies pressure with fingers, small metal devices, or wooden implements. It can also be done with the insertion of small hypodermic needles, much like acupuncture.  Also magnets, low-level laser, or electro-stimulation can be used depending on the skills and qualifications of the practitioner.

CAUSES OF PAIN

  1. SCAR TISSUE – Scar tissue is made up of fibrinogen (serum proteins) molecules from the blood laid down upon injury.  The fibrinogen forms fibrous connective tissue or granulation tissue.  In addition, collagen and elastin fibrils bridge the injury as part of the connective tissue.  This scar (granulation tissue) is in higher concentrations in a wound versus a surgical site.  Autonomic dysfunction is caused by the scar tissue.  The scar “generates a small electrical signal which sends false signals to the autonomic nervous system causing dysfunction.”  For example, “a scar on the abdomen can cause pain in the leg or refer pain to the shoulder.”1
  2. TIGHT TISSUES – When tissue becomes compressed, inflamed, or injured scar tissue forms and pain or numbness results.  This pain is caused from an interference or interruption of the nerve electrical flow.  This interference is due to muscle spasm where the muscle, tendon, skin, and facia become tight.  It is also caused by the tight weave of scar tissue.  This tightness prevents the tissue from moving freely.  This tightness puts pressure on the nerve and causes hyper-irritability resulting in pain.  The scar tissue causes changes in lymph nodes, blood circulation, nerves and the flow of nutrients. Neural therapy assists in restoring the movement of the facia surrounding the muscle system.  As a result, the client feels less pain and has improvement in range of motion.  Neural Therapy through acupressure works on the autonomic nervous system by stimulating the nerve electrical voltage to rebalance.
  3. ELECTROLYTE PASSAGE – When membranes are broken or disrupted free passage of electrolytes results.  They move in and out of the membrane walls.  This disrupts the nerves’ bio-electric state.  The disruption results in a firing of the nerve, vessel, organ, cell or muscle.  This firing causes pain or dysfunction.
  4. TOXINS – “The autonomic nervous system can also be affected by toxins.” from infection, drugs, and mercury.  These toxins can cause “fibromyalgia, MS, ALS, and other autonomic diseases.”2 Neural Therapy is also effective with the toxin causing pain as long as other methods are used for cleansing the body.
  5. HIGH CELL VOLTAGE – Neural therapy also helps rebalance energy within the cells.  Every cell is tiny potassium-battery, 40 – 90 milivolts.  This energy is produced with oxygen metabolism.  This is polarization.  With chemicals and physical trauma the cells are unable to repolarize spontaneously.  They become depolarized and a sick cell transmits a rhythmic discharge (an interference field) and tissue and organs become weakened or diseased.  A scar is a good example of this.  The scar tissue charge is 1.5V (1500mv).  The electrical force will adhere the scar to the facia and create tension lines.  Weak tissues are unable to select proper electrical impulses.  They receive the interference stimuli and translate them as disturbance in the bodies regulating mechanisms such as the blood.  Neural therapy assists in repolarizing the cell and reduce the electrical charge gradually bringing it into normal range.

NEURAL THERAPY FOR EMOTIONS

Neural Therapy can also be used for emotions such as anxiety, stress, depression, and insomnia. Emotional complaints can also exhibit high milivolts on the nerves whereby can be released through neural therapy.

THE PAIN TREATMENT

Neural Therapy releases pressure from the nerve and as a result eliminates or reduces pain.  With each session the pain relief is extended.  Neural Therapy has a high success rate and quite often the results are quite dramatic.  Clients may feel slight pain or tingling or an emotional release as the memories associated with the scar are triggered.

Typically the client has one session per week for approximately three weeks.  This may vary depending upon the complaint.

NEURAL THERAPY ALLERGY TREATMENT

While a client holds a vial containing a diluted form of an allergen small gauge hypodermic needles are inserted in three or more peripheral nerve sites, directly under the skin.  These points create a pathway whereby a release of neurological allergy information is released.  In addition acupressure is applied to specific energy points along the spine, hands, wrists, legs, and feet.   The application of the acupressure to these points facilitates the introduction of new information into the person’s body through energetic channels.  In this manner, effects of the offending substance (allergen) are no longer able to disrupt the body’s immune system.
